In this activity, the diverse reality of contemporary Spain comes to life through a variety of tools and activities.


Experiential and Cultural Spanish focuses on the acquisition of basic communication skills and the application of these in everyday contexts in and around the city of Madrid.


Experiential and Cultural Spanish is part of Area 1 of the Gap Year Program of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.


Within Area 1, students can choose between Experiential and Cultural Spanish or History of Spanish Culture at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M).

Learning Outcomes


By engaging in this activity, students will be able to:

  1. Reflect on basic Spanish grammar rules and use them in appropriate contexts.

  2. Identify the most salient aspects of Madrid’s culture.

  3. Apply grammatical and speaking knowledge in practical and everyday situations, during field trips.

  4. Learn how to navigate informal conversations with local population.
